The new building attaches to the house via a lightweight glazed link. The finished tones are hot and warm, so that even on a dull winters day the pool is warm and inviting.
The building, clad in local stone, is of the local landscape, which is drawn inside via large picture windows to maximise views to landscaped gardens.
A steel staircase is introduced as a showpiece sculpture, reflecting the industrial aspirations of the client, who is a blacksmith.
The simple form of this pool, is calm, a refuge amongst deep red colours and tiled finishes. Natural riven slate is used for flooring and a deck level pool ensures maximum water depth and a seamless waterline. This RRA pool and leisure building is a dynamic experience; it tones, amuses and calms the soul and makes a design splash – fabulous.
