RRA secured masterplan permission for the Whitney on Wye Toll Bridge, an ancient site with its own act of parliament to govern tolls and bridge repairs in perpetuity. The proposal converts the old toll cottage into a holiday lodge, provides new overnight lodges for tourists, a new two storey cantilevered toll master’s house and improved facilities to support the bridge workings. The local authority struggled with this application, so much so the planning fee was actually refunded to the client in full, under regulation 5 of the Town and Country Planning Regulations 2013.
