RRA has been appointed to work on a Grade II Listed terraced building in Cheltenham’s central conservation area. Dating from the 1830s, the house is one of a pair of listed properties. Unfortunately, significant issues have compromised the integrity of the structure and specialist input is required to stabilise the house. Working with a regular client of ours, the intention is to make the building safe whilst retaining the heritage of the Grade II Listing. Following this, a general refurbishment will be carried out and the house will be put back on the open market.
The most serious concern is the ashlar stone front façade, which is moving away from the rest of the building. A reasonably large crack on the wall inside the building and the distortion of the inside cupboard door frame, illustrates the damage.

The degree of the movement will dictate whether other parts of the structure have been damaged and how much remedial work will be required.
In addition the building has other superficial issues, however, thankfully, these are easier to rectify.

Whilst the project represents a gamble for our client, this is an area where employing a professional with specialist knowledge and a local network can pay dividends in making the right decisions at the right time and, hopefully, making a healthy return on investment for our client’s calculated risk.

In addition to the front facade, the railings and wrought iron porch are meticulously detailed in the Grade II Listing.
