We have reached the end of our 2025 work experience programme and our final student of the year, Molly, has kindly contributed this blog piece. During her placement, Molly explored early-stage concept design and digital visualisation, producing an inventive circular sports pavilion for community football.
Below are Molly’s words reflection on her time with RRA and the project.
“What have I designed?
I have designed a new version of a sports pavilion, specifically for football. I have created this building as a replacement of degraded shed, so a football team have a place to eat, rest and enjoy themselves.
“Where is the inspiration from?
The inspiration for my building comes from a circle shape: it has a 360-degree circumference. This means that if you were to put windows on a curved surface, the views of the land would be maximised and that more sunlight could be absorbed by the building. Adding circles to my design has allowed me to create views that my not have been possible with a regular design. As a result, places like a playground, football pitches and multiple car parks can now be seen when standing in the building.
“What have I enjoyed the most when creating this building?
I have enjoyed the sketching and the Twinmotion the most. I loved the sketching the most as I got to explore different shapes and structures of individual buildings. The freedom of creating what you liked was the best part for me. I also love the Twinmotion as it made my design come to life, so I could see the final result of my creation.”
Molly’s circular concept shows clear thinking about daylight, views and user experience. From rapid hand sketches to bringing the idea to life in Twinmotion, she showed real curiosity and drive. We think Molly did a fantastic job and she shows a lot of promise if she chooses to pursue architecture as a career.
